Jennifer Donaldson, Practice Manager

Jennifer DonaldsonBorn in Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer has lived in Texas since she was in third grade. Jennifer began her career in veterinary medicine in 2005 when she joined Bay Glen Animal Hospital as a Client Relations Specialist. She was later selected to be a core member of the team that opened and established The Feline Medical Center, where she not only learned a great deal about cats, but also acquired valuable nursing experience. Since that time, she has continued her education, building on her practice management skills. She recently moved into the Practice Manager position in charge of both Bay Glen and The Feline Medical Center.

Jennifer enjoys meeting Bay Glen’s clients and their animal companions and feels that helping pets and their owners is the most rewarding part of her job. A devout animal lover, Jennifer has a special fondness for kittens and golden retrievers—because she has one of each! She also loves to shop and spend time with her family and friends whenever she can.

Melissa C., Client Relations Specialist

Melissa CMelissa grew up in a suburb north of Dallas and moved to the Gulf Coast area in 2005. She has been with the Bay Glen team since June of 2005 and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Her relationships with clients and their pets are very important to her.

Melissa and her husband, Carlos, have been happily married since June of 2003. Melissa’s free time is spent with her husband, who is the youth minister at their small church. She enjoys spending as much time with their youth group as possible!! Additionally, Melissa enjoys reading and spending time with her bossy Pomeranian, "Brutus" and her sweet Chihuahua mix, “Sophie”.

Mary W., Client Relations Specialist

Mary WMary started her career in 1990 working at a well-established small animal practice in Midland, Michigan. After relocating in 1996, she continued to work as a technician in a busy practice in Houston before moving to Clear Lake in 2002, when she joined Bay Glen. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary care but has a passion for animal behavior and the challenge of rehabilitating pets with behavioral issues using a positive, gentle approach through operant conditioning.

Mary is also very involved with training and showing her own dogs in obedience, tracking, and conformation. Mary lives in the Clear Lake area with her husband, Darrell, and their three dogs (a Chesapeake Bay retriever, a Belgian malinois, and a rat terrier) and one dilute calico Persian, who runs the household. Outside of work, her hobbies include photography and kayaking.

Leslie N., Lead Veterinary Nurse

Leslie NLeslie grew up in Alvin, Texas, and graduated from Alvin High School in 2005. She moved on to Texas A&M University, where she majored in biomedical science with a minor in business, graduating in May 2009. Leslie worked full time at a local animal clinic in College Station, Texas, while attending school. After graduation, she decided to move closer to home, and joined the Bay Glen team in June 2010 as a Veterinary Nurse. Currently, she is furthering her education through a distance-learning Veterinary Technology program provided by Cedar Valley College.

At home, Leslie has one very special fur-child named Bandit, a 4-year-old Pembroke Welsh corgi, that travels nearly everywhere with her. In her spare time, Leslie enjoys going to the movies, running with Bandit, and spending quality time with her wonderful family and friends.

Corine D., Veterinary Nurse

Corine DCorine was born in Houston and raised in Alvin, Texas, where she still resides. She graduated from Alvin High School in 2007. She later enrolled in the Vet Tech Institute of Houston and graduated with honors in 2010. Corine has always loved and cared for animals.

Currently, her four-legged family includes Madi, a 1-year-old female Rhodesian ridgeback; Ratilda, a 2-1/2-year-old rat; and Maggie and Molly, her parents’ pug and her brother’s pit bull. When Corine isn’t busy at work, she loves skim boarding, mountain biking, volleyball, and spending time with her boyfriend and family.

Matthew R., Veterinary Nurse

Matthew RMatthew started at Bay Glen Animal Hospital in 2001 as a Kennel Assistant. He began working as a nurse in 2003 but left a few years later to attend school. He is currently working towards his degree in Radiation therapy.

Matthew is the proud father of 2 sons Aiden and Dylan. Matthew is also the proud parent of a 3-year-old French bulldog named McLovin. In his spare time he enjoys, working on cars, sky diving and exercising.

Elyssa P., Veterinary Nurse

Elyssa PElyssa grew up in New Orleans and started working with a rescue organization when she was 12 years old. From that point on, she knew she wanted to spend her life helping animals. She graduated from the Houston branch of the Veterinary Technical Institute in April 2011. Elyssa had spent her 8-week student internship working with the staff at Bay Glen Animal Hospital, so when an opportunity for a full-time position became available, it was an easy decision for her to join the Bay Glen team. Elyssa recently completing her state and national board examination, and she is now proud to wear the title of Registered Veterinary Technician.

When she isn’t working, Elyssa enjoys spending her time with her son, Dylan; her dog, Maddie; her cat, Bailey; a bird named Ziomi; and her three pet snakes.

Kathleen L., Groomer

Kathleen is a "BOI" (Born on Galveston Island) and a graduate of Galveston Ball High School. She is happily married to her husband, A.R., and they have two daughters and two grandchildren. After Hurricane Ike destroyed their family convenience store business in 2008, Kathleen decided to make a career change and enroll in a grooming program offered by ALPHA K-9. After graduation, she worked at a number of grooming facilities before settling in at Bay Glen Animal Hospital. Kathleen loves her job, and she especially loves taking care of all of her “babies”—the pets she grooms and beautifies daily.

Kathleen has two four-legged children: Bleau, a blue healer, and Bella Rae, an American Eskimo/Lab mix. She enjoys spending her free time with her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She is honored and excited to be a member of the Bay Glen team and is looking forward to meeting and working with you and your special four-legged companion.

Carol L., Bookkeeper

Carol LCarol grew up in Kentucky and actually started her career in human medicine before making the switch and joining Bay Glen Animal Hospital in 1994. She enjoys the diversity of her position and works in a number of different capacities for the hospital. Her relationships with the many clients she has grown close to over the years are very important to her and observing the remarkable human-animal bond that many of us share with our pets is something that brings her joy every day.

Carol has a golden retriever named Harley and two cats, Hoover and Huey. She also has two human children, David and Jennifer, and is a proud grandmother as well. Carol enjoys reading and spending time with her family when she is not at work.

April, Client Relations Specialist

Carol LApril has worked at Bay Glen Animal Hospital since October 2001 as a Client Relations Specialist. April has always known what her calling was from a young age. As a small girl, she was always an animal lover, the one who would rescue and take in injured and sick birds, squirrels and ducks from around her neighborhood. To this day the people of her community still come to her for her advice and help when they come across an injured animal.

April has two furry children and a Cherry-head Red-foot Tortoise. “Beau”, the happy go lucky hairy terrier is the oldest child; “Chance”, the black lab mix is a real momma’s boy. The Tortoise “Little Foot” is the newest edition to her family. She enjoys playing outside with her brothers on sunny days.

April's kind and caring demeanor is evident to both clients and patients. Nothing is more rewarding to her than sending home a healthy patient. In her time away from the office, April enjoys photography, playing poker and riding her motorcycle with her husband, Billy.

Carol LKelly was born and raised in the Clear Lake area, and is a 2007 graduate of Clear Lake High School. Following high school, Kelly relocated to the North Dallas/Plano area to attend the University of Texas at Dallas. She graduated in May, 2011 with a major in literature and a minor in history. While Kelly enjoyed her time in Dallas, Clear Lake has always been home for her, and so she moved back to the area to pursue her love for animals in a career.

Kelly has been an employee at Bay Glen Animal Hospital since 2011, and loves working with the pets she interacts with on a daily basis. She says each pet is unique and special in their own way, but they are all fun to care for! Kelly has always had a deep passion and love for animals. Growing up she had a great variety of pets- dogs, fish, mice, turtles, a rabbit and a snake too! Kelly takes great care of each and every pet she is responsible for and we at Bay Glen Animal Hospital feel very fortunate to have her as a member of our team!

Kelly currently lives with her 4- legged child, a yellow Labrador Retriever named "Banana" as well as her parents 2 dogs, a black Labrador Retriever named "Belle" and an Australian Shepherd named "Maddy". In her time away from the hospital, Kelly likes to read, and watch TV and movies while cuddling with her puppy!

Lissa R., Animal Caregiver

Carol LLissa spent approximately ten years of her childhood growing up in the Middle East. She says it was a very interesting experience, but she is glad to be back home now in the USA!

Lissa's love for animals led her to pursue a career as a veterinary nurse, and she is currently attending the Veterinary Technician Institute in Houston. She has been an employee at Bay Glen Animal Hospital since 2011, and manages to juggle a very busy schedule with work and school. Lissa says it will all be worth it when she graduates this year in April! The doctors and staff at Bay Glen Animal Hospital are very proud of her achievements as well!

Lissa describes herself as a "crazy cat lady". She loves all pets, but has a great fondness for cats of all ages, sizes and colors!! Lissa of course has two kitties of her own, "Ruca" and "Tallah". Her three other "children" are "Spencer" and "Hannah" both Dachshunds, and "Ms Bunny" who of course is a rabbit!

Lissa's long term goals are to work in a zoo as a veterinary technician or to work overseas in some type of conservation work. But for now, we are happy to have her as a member of our staff.
