Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Richard H. Lisk, Practice Owner
Dr. Lisk Dr. Lisk was born and raised in North Carolina. As a young boy, Dr. Lisk was always fascinated by animals. He had a variety of pets from hamsters and turtles to dogs and cats. While in high school, he got a part-time job at a veterinary hospital and it was from that experience that he decided to pursue veterinary medicine as a career.

Dr. Lisk received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University in 1980 and his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University in 1984. Following graduation from veterinary school, he completed a one year Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City.

Prior to starting his private practice in 1990, Dr. Lisk worked as an associate veterinarian for several animal hospitals in Connecticut, New York and Texas. He enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine including challenging internal medical cases, orthopedic surgery, and practice management. Dr. Lisk feels very fortunate to have established his practice in Clear Lake. The community has embraced his vision of high quality pet care with exceptional customer service. The hospital staff has grown and flourished under his direction. He firmly believes that the hospital's remarkable success is in large part due to the commitment of providing a knowledgeable, courteous and well-trained staff, offering the best medical care available, and being committed to educating clients about advances in pet health care.

Dr. Lisk is the proud father of two children, a son Michael, and a daughter Dana. He resides in the Clear Lake area with his Shih Tzu "Oreo" and his Birman kitten "Norton". In his time away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his children and his wife, Carol, riding motorcycles, working in the yard, traveling and being active in his church.

Dr. Michael Janney, Practice Owner
Dr. Mike Janney graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He worked as an associate veterinarian in Northwest Houston until 1990, at which time he decided to open his own practice in Clear Lake. In 1994, he merged his solo practice, Bay Oaks Veterinary Clinic, with Dr. Lisk's solo practice to form their partnership together as Bay Glen Animal Hospital.

Dr. Janney and his wife, Cathy, were both raised in Clear Lake and attended Clear Lake High School. They have three sons, James, Robbie and Andrew, who keep them running in all directions. Dr. Janney is an avid sports fan. He enjoys playing golf, coaching youth football, cheering for the Texans and personal fitness. Dr. Janney is involved in many of his children's extracurricular activities and he has an active role in several ministries in his church.

Dr. Janney became interested in a career in veterinary medicine as a youth. After working and volunteering for a few local veterinarians as a teenager he was inspired to choose this as a career path. He excelled academically as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M, being accepted to veterinary school in 1982 while being a Magna Cum Laude Biomedical Science major. He was a member of Phi Zeta, the veterinary honor society, as well as Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma.

Dr. Janney has always believed that pet care education begins at a young age. He started visiting local elementary schools early in his career to teach children about proper pet care. He supports the H.O.S.A. program at Clear Lake High School, allowing students interested in health careers to come and observe the daily routine and activity of a veterinary hospital. He has served on the Campus Instructional Improvement Committee at Ward Elementary and he has been active in a local citizen committee for the Clear Creek Independent School District bond referendum. In 1997 he received the "Friends of Education" award from the C.C.I.S.D.

Dr. Janney enjoys many aspects of his work, particularly medical cases, exotic pet care, and educating owners on how to properly care for their pets. He loves the interpersonal contact and getting to know families and their pets through the years. Caring for a pet throughout its entire lifetime and seeing the happiness that it brings to a family or individual is a very rewarding experience for Dr. Janney. He regularly attends continuing education meetings to stay current with the latest advances in veterinary medicine.
